At this point, I need to make a couple of changes to my original plan. I got sick (again) on Sunday. Without exaggeration, I have had six colds (maybe a couple were flus), a stomach flu, and some other unmentionable illnesses in the past 3 months. At one point, I was getting sick with a cold or flu every other week for a month.
I'm sure that my recent-ish pregnancy has something to do with this, but I'm also starting to wonder if I'm not restricting too many calories and eating the wrong foods. Therefore, I've decided to start eating no more than 1700 calories a day (which puts me at my CalorieKing recommendation of 1550 calories a day, give or take 150 calories).
Also, I've decided to give up sweets (refined sugars) for a month. I have a terrible sweet tooth, and I know it's not best to restrict certain food groups, but I tend to do better in everything I do with tight restrictions rather than loose rules. Plus, I only plan on doing this for a month so that I can ensure that I am eating the healthiest possible foods to boost my immune system. I have been known to eat only sweets for a day giving up my chance for all healthy options, and my body really needs that healthy food. (Of course, this stipulation doesn't include incidental refined sugar included in items such as bread. I'm really talking about desserts and sweet breakfast foods, etc.)
So, because of my illness, my week will start today and I will check in next Wednesday to let you know how I am doing. Thank you for any encouragement!
I pity you for the coming month. You have chosen the month of Love Chocolate to give up sweets. I suppose you can try sugar-free chocolate, but we both know what sugar alcohol does to a person's subway system. It's not pretty, just like a real subway. Good luck with your month of denial. I will purchase extra chocolate during the next month so that none of our favorite candy bars go out of business.
ReplyDeleteOkay, you missed an entire week. I expect a detailed report on what happened last week in your post this week. I suppose your internet being down might be a possible excuse, but if you really cared about your followers, you would have found a way to post. Now I must depart and watch the Barney Great Adventure Movie with my daughter. I know that I may never be the same once I see it, but I'll try to go to my happy place while the show is on and maybe my metamorphosis won't be too painful.
